The Film

Wild Women of Birth  ~ The Film! “Wild” because birthing undisturbed, women will tell you, is the best way to claim the power of the portal of birth. To be wild is to honor the body’s wisdom as part of nature. To surrender to the wild self is to be free from the confines of cultural fear that would control from the outside.  This is a film which aims to speak to first time mothers, to offer choice, to reveal the wisdom of our female lineage of elders who have traveled this path.

Women finding women in all phases of conception, birth and mothering… In community!

A web of inter-generational women who care about birth as a sacred rite of passage, and who offer an outstretched hand. Sometimes life just takes a little hand holding.

Wild Women of Birth celebrates physiological birth, undisturbed at home… where the beloved hearth and heart reside.

This is a telling of birth as it unfolds in low or natural light, in a quiet environment, in a private environment, where loved ones are near, with perhaps, a few deliberately chosen close companions to nurture and support.

Women speak of their return to a deeper, more sacred view of the bringing of life into this world, from conscious preconception and sacred partnership, to conscious conception and communication with the soul baby, to the choice of wild pregnancy devoid of clinical tests and medical surveillance  ~ to a sacred and private embodied birth on her own terms, uninterrupted and undisturbed.  A Birth of Emergence.

How does a woman discover that she has this choice? How does she transmute a lifetime of fear culture that would manage and deliver and rob her of her own sacred rite of passage? Is it not time to offer an alternative to the redemptive homebirth which often happens after the traumatic first birth experience in a frantic and medically controlled environment?  While it is true: It is our birthright to heal from all trauma and especially from the trauma of a dismantling of personal power and sovereignty in birth, where the very trauma is often the force igniting personal reclamation ~ Is it not time to proclaim that first time mothers have this sacred choice with their very first pregnancy?? Do we not want this for all our daughters and their beloveds and for their unborn daughters? Wild Women of Birth is a film to offer women and their beloveds the opportunity to consider this a very real choice, through the voices and actions of women who carry an embodied wisdom and reverence for this choice.

This film is about a blossoming movement.  Let us celebrate it for the ushering in of a new generation of mothers who bring new life to our planet on their own terms.  A new imprint, for mother and child. One of trust, of safety, of peace. An initial birth imprint that creates a sacred bond of unconditional love between mother and child.  A love to support worthiness and connection to all life. Our very humanity may depend on it!
